Supported Devices and Browsers
Devices and Browsers supported by Medallion™
Supported Devices:
Global Requirement: Devices and browsers must support WASM/WebAssembly to be compatible with Medallion™.
Android: All devices are supported. Based on device capabilities, users may be directed to either 'Live Capture', 'Tap to Capture', or 'Manual Capture'.
iOS devices still supported by Apple: All devices are supported. Depending on the device's capabilities, users may be directed to 'Live Capture,' 'Tap to Capture,' or 'Manual Capture.'
iOS devices no longer supported by Apple: These devices are not officially supported, and the process may fail. If used, the users are directed to 'Manual Capture'.
Live Capture using WebRTC:
Live Capture guides users to position documents properly and triggers automatic capture once a document is detected. This feature is available only when the browser supports WebRTC.
Supported Browsers: Medallion™ supports live capture of ID documents on the following browsers:
Android: Chrome
iOS: Safari (iOS version 13.0 or higher)
For browsers that do not support WebRTC, the device’s camera app is used for manual capture.
Camera Preview: By default, the camera preview will stretch to the screen’s width while maintaining a 4:3 aspect ratio. Although the camera dimensions can be customized, one dimension will automatically adjust if the aspect ratio is not preserved.
Tap to Capture: Tap to capture is enabled on devices that meet resolution requirements but cannot support image processing. Upon launching the camera, the image processing speed is assessed. If the processing speed exceeds the 400ms threshold, live document detection and auto-capture are disabled, and tap-to-capture mode is activated, requiring the user to capture the document manually.
